Spotlight : Pickford Community Library Young Writers Workshop

YWW Class of 2014
Ann Marie Smith, head librarian of Pickford Community Library in Pickford, Michigan crossed paths with JLB Creatives Publishing's Senior Editor, Dar Bagby, and it was a match made in heaven! Together they took advice from one of the local teens and began to put together what is now known as the popular
Young Writers Workshop.

Each school year aspiring young writers are welcome to attend these sessions at the Pickford Community Library. There is a novice class and an advance class. All students are presented an intense, interactive course that includes such things as the basics of writing, the publishing industry, book cover development, writing synopses, creating book trailers, and developing an author platform to name a few.

Ann Marie Smith (L), Janet Beasley, Elise VanCise,
and Jean E. Lane (on screen), Dar Bagby (back R)
 Connie Thompson (seated R)
Presentations are given by the JLB Creatives Publishing team both in person and via Skype. The Michigan team consists of Dar Bagby and Connie Thompson, local U.P. residents. The Florida team consists of Janet Beasley, Jean E. Lane and Elise VanCise. Together the JLBCP team holds in excess of 100 years experience in the literary world.

JLB Creatives Publishing's CEO Janet Beasley was eager to join in when Dar told her what was in the works. Being that Janet is the founder/owner of JLB Creatives Publishing she suggested that the company would like to bring all of the JLBCP team on board to speak at the classes regarding their areas of expertise. She also wanted the aspiring authors to have the opportunity to go through an entire publishing process, including having their short stories and novellas published by a true trade publisher.

It is with pride and joy that JLB Creatives has become the sole publisher as well as the facilitating team for this worthy activity.

The YWW books are available through Smashwords and on an Overdrive regional list.

Be sure to download your FREE copies today of these fine aspiring authors' works.

Thursday Tips: Writing prompt

Alright creatives, it's time to recharge that muse. This week instead of a normal tip we're giving you a writing challenge. This prompt was created by random a random element generator on Seventh Sanctum.

Prompt:
The story takes place ten years in the past. The story must have an old man in it. A character pretends to be someone else.

The story can be of any genre with a minimum word count of 500.

Share your story with us! Post a link to your story on our Facebook page. We'd love to see what you and your muse have created.

WEDNESDAY FEATURE "Spark Your Creativity"

#Birds #Flying #Nature #Pink
This week's photo takes us to Black Point Wildlife Drive
Janet has titled this photo, "Flyaway Pink"

Happy Creating!

On Wednesdays we're posting a photo taken by our CEO, author Janet Beasley to help inspire authors, painters, musicians, and other awesome artists. We've titled the new feature, "Spark Your Creativity." How did we come up with this? Read on...

When Janet isn't hard at work in the literary world, you'll find her and her husband kayaking the crystal clear, spring fed rivers of Florida. Janet's second passion next to writing is photographing nature as they glide through the serene settings these rivers have to offer. She and her husband also enjoy traveling the US, so you'll also be seeing some of Janet's
photos taken from hikes and journeys she and her husband have done nationwide. She has used her photos time and again for her own inspiration when it comes to many of her stories, and decided she would like to share the same inspiration with the literary and arts world.

And not to worry if you're not inspired this week, come back each Wednesday to catch a glimpse of what could "spark" your next amazing piece of work. And if you don't want to wait until next Wednesday, we'd like to invite you to visit our JLB Creatives Photo Gallery on Flickr where the photos are always free to download and use as book covers, business cards, wallpaper, etc. All we ask is that you give credit where credit is due - perhaps by something as simple as adding a credit link to the JLB Creatives/Janet Beasley Flickr site in your book or on your presentation.

We hope you enjoy our new Wednesday feature, "Spark Your Creativity." And we want to let you know, if a photo inspires you to write a story that you would like to have considered for publication by JLB Creatives Publishing, be sure to visit our website at http://www.JLBCreatives.com where you'll find our company's history, be introduced to the publishing team, discover our Submission Guidelines, and may submit your work for consideration.

Enjoy!
